Painters & Decorators in Buntingford
Buntingford is straight up the A10 from our Broxbourne base, and we decorate both its old High Street houses and its newer estates.

Buntingford is a small market town on the line of the old Roman road, Ermine Street, beside the River Rib. Its High Street is lined with listed buildings, some timber-framed and some with Georgian fronts. Around it the town has grown a good deal in recent years, with new estates on the edges, and beyond that are the villages: Westmill, Aspenden, Cottered, Braughing and Puckeridge.
That gives two very different kinds of job. The older houses and village cottages want patient preparation: uneven walls, old lime plaster in places, and woodwork with decades of paint on it. The new-build homes are the opposite. The walls are flat, but fresh plaster has to dry out fully and take a mist coat before the finish coats, and the basic emulsion most new builds are handed over with rarely lasts.
For new homes, we're often asked to do the whole house once the plaster has dried, so it's done properly in one go before the furniture goes in. Getting the first coats right on new plaster saves problems with peeling and patchy colour later.
From Broxbourne it's around fourteen miles straight up the A10, through Ware, so Buntingford is an easy run for us. Quotes are free, and we'll tell you honestly what the job needs.

Cat Crossan via Facebook“We have had our bedrooms recently decorated and we are so happy with the results. Bill had a difficult job taking off wallpaper in all of the rooms, then preparing them for papering with lining paper. The paper he used is really high quality and has given a flawless finish. He then painted them all. I was worried we'd be able to see the joins but it's completely smooth. We also had a patch where we'd had a leak and he repaired it so you can't tell. Would definitely use him again for any future decorating projects. Really professional and excellent with communication.”

Jason Plysl via Facebook“Professional service from start to finish. Quote was broken down in detail and reasonably priced. No hidden extras. Communication was clear and honest. The work carried out was of a high standard. Bill and Ash were very polite and tidy, clearing up any mess before finishing each day. Highly recommended. I will definitely be acquiring their services again.”

Painting & decorating in Buntingford: your questions
- Do you cover Buntingford and the surrounding villages?
- Yes. The town and villages such as Westmill, Aspenden, Cottered, Braughing, Puckeridge and Standon are all within easy reach up the A10.
- When can a new-build house be painted?
- Once the new plaster has fully dried, which can take several weeks, and it has turned an even pale colour with no darker patches. The first coat is a thinned mist coat, followed by full coats. We'll check the walls before we start.
- Do you work on listed and older village properties?
- Yes, with careful preparation and finishes that suit older walls and woodwork. If the building is listed and the work involves changes, any consent is the owner's to arrange, but like-for-like redecoration is usually straightforward.
- Do you do exterior painting in Buntingford?
- Yes. Masonry, render and woodwork, with the preparation done properly and the work planned around dry weather.
